He also spent two decades as a professor and associate dean at Columbia Journalism School, shaping the next generation of journalists.
Recognized globally for his leadership and creativity, Sree was named one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business (2015) and one of Newsweek’s 20 Most Influential South Asians in America (2004), alongside Kamala Harris, M. Night Shyamalan, and Norah Jones. In 2020, he was awarded the Knighthood of the Order of the Star of Italy for his work in strengthening US-Italian relations.
