Deborah’s journey began when she became a mother to her son, Zeplyn. At that time, she could not find high-quality childcare that met her standards. Therefore, she made the bold decision to leave her successful six-figure career and open her own child care center in 1994.
Today, her Happy Home Christian Leadership Academy for Early Learners is one of the top-rated child care providers in Northern Virginia. Her approach combines love, quality education, and leadership training for parents and providers. As a result, she has earned national recognition.
From Local Leader to America’s Supernanny
In 2011, Deborah’s work caught the attention of Lifetime Television. Consequently, she was chosen to star as America’s Supernanny, giving her a global platform to share her purposed parenting style.
In addition, she became a recurring expert on shows such as The Steve Harvey Show and HARRY. She has also appeared on The View, Today Show, Katie, Wendy Williams, Great Day Washington, CNN, and many others.
Empowering Parents and Leaders Around the World
From 2019–2023, Deborah created and led the John C. Maxwell Parenting and Family Certification Curriculum, serving more than 16,000 coaches in over 150 countries. Consequently, her influence as a leader in parenting education became truly global.
She is a highly sought-after speaker who has been celebrated as “The Transformer” at schools, national conferences, organizations, businesses, and churches. In addition, Deborah is the author of three influential books:

Giving Back to the Community

In fact, she actively participates in food and clothing drives and donates both her time and financial resources to help families in need.
Academic Excellence
Deborah holds an Honorary Doctorate in Education from Richmond Virginia Seminary. She earned a Master’s in Early Childhood Special Education from George Washington University, a Master’s in Christian Leadership, and a Biblical Justice Certificate from the Leland School of Theology in Arlington, Virginia. In addition, she has studied Jurisprudence at Oxford University.
