About Ben Vernon
I was a canine handler in the Air Force, even though I had never owned a dog before joining the military. Most of my early dog training knowledge came from my military experience. Over time, I continued learning and refining my skills beyond what I was taught in the service...
…In 2020, I was honored to be selected for a Secret Service mission, providing security for President Trump. During that mission, I had the chance to speak with Secret Service dog handlers, who encouraged me to transition out of the military and pursue a similar role with them.
I took their advice and began the year-long Secret Service application process. While waiting, I started training dogs on the side. I didn’t expect anyone to pay for it—but they did. Quickly, I realized that dog training was not only profitable, but something I truly enjoyed. Helping dog owners build better relationships with their pets became a passion.
Eventually, the Secret Service opportunity fell through. Instead of feeling discouraged, I decided to go all-in on dog training. I researched the most dog-friendly cities in the U.S., and at the time, Tampa ranked number one. My wife and I packed up our lives, left behind friends and family, and moved to Tampa with just each other and our dog.
It was a bold leap of faith, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
