Maura Sweeney: Author, Podcaster, International Speaker, HuffPost Contributor and creator of the Foundations of Happiness course for emotional intelligence, Maura Sweeney is the Trademarked Ambassador of Happiness transforming a “Living Happy – Inside Out” mantra into a global outreach.
A former decorated corporate manager, business co-owner and home schooling mom, Maura launched her vocational reinvention at midlife. Since then, she has been featured on 200+ media outlets including NBC, BBC, Serbia and Kosovo TV news, Nigerian and Macedonian press and scores of podcast and radio talk shows. Her insights have appeared in the Boston Globe, Tampa Bay Times and the Emmy award winning ESPN 30-for-30 film, Playing for the Mob.
Passionate about developing models for positive influence and sustainable leadership in the 21st century, Maura has addressed next gen leaders at American universities and Model UN events. She has also lectured in Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia and the Netherlands and was closing speaker at the inaugural Nelson Mandela Day celebration sponsored by the UNESCO Center for Peace.
An catalyst for uplifting society, Maura was teamed in her Ambassador of Happiness® capacity with Dan Aykroyd, Julian Lennon, Kathy Sledge and others, serving as a spoken word contributor to the Top 10 Billboard album Action Moves People United.
Connecting and collaborating with women on a global level, Maura is a member of the Advisory Executive Council of Women Economic Forum. She’s also a Board Member of Empowered Voices, a non-profit catalyzing economic and community development to women in the Mubende district of Uganda.
Maura received a B.A. in Political Science from Boston College where she interned for the late U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy. She refers to herself as an avowed “Law School Escapee” at New Jersey’s Seton Hall University Law School, a move that catalyzed her to find her own path to purpose. Happily married since 1981, Maura lives in Florida, collaborates in business with husband Jim, and travels often to connect with people and events around the world.
