We believe in what we do and we believe in delivering for athletes because as far as we’re concerned, the sports nutrition industry has been taking us all for a ride for far too long.
We learned this the hard way as endurance athletes ourselves (ultramarathon and triathlon). All the sports nutrition we used made us feel like crap and failed to deliver results. The more we spoke to fellow athletes, the more we realised that far from being unusual, our experiences were the norm. Everyone was having problems with this stuff, suffering everything from yo-yoing energy levels to stomach trouble, crappy immune function and more.
Knowing the foundation of performance nutrition was a clean, wholefood diet that minimises processed ingredients and sugar, we looked more closely at sports nutrition products.
Here we found the problem staring us in the face:
They were all packed with the same crappy sugars and additives we’d normally avoid like the plague. The idea this junk was what we should eat for performance was suddenly – and very clearly – laughable.
So we went in search of natural alternatives to use in our own racing and training.
But none existed.
So we got to work and made them ourselves. The results we experienced were mind-blowing and just too good to keep to oursleves. So we jacked in our jobs and 33Shake was born. We opened for business in September 2012 and haven’t looked back since.
