Sheree first gained national recognition as a rhythm and blues/pop recording artist with Capitol Records in the early 1980s. Her albums, Straight Ahead and The Music, digitally remastered and re-released, continue to stand as timeless examples of soul-infused storytelling blended with jazz and R&B rhythms.

Musical Legacy and Global Reach

Sheree’s artistry has taken her around the world with international performances in Germany, Egypt, Israel, and Italy. Beyond her studio recordings, her music continues to serve as a platform for cross-cultural dialogue, empowerment, and connection.

Her work earned an Emmy® Award nomination for a youth empowerment PSA, and she co-authored the pioneering House of Blues School House Tour curriculum. Sheree also hosted the Hollywood House of Blues Gospel Brunch, preserving and promoting gospel music and community engagement.

Acclaimed Songwriting and Collaborations

Sheree’s songwriting skills have earned gold and platinum certifications. She co-wrote Kirk Franklin’s hit song Looking for You and penned tracks for renowned artists such as:

  • Patrice Rushen (Haven’t You Heard, Settle For My Love)
  • Zhane (Groove Thang)

Her music has been featured in popular media, including the film Hollywood Shuffle. To date, Sheree has written and recorded over 100 songs.

Education, Advocacy, and Children’s Media

Sheree’s commitment to social change shines through her co-authored children’s book, Zhakanaka The Word, and the music album We’re All Only Children, which promotes literacy, self-esteem, and anti-bullying. These works are part of a broader peace education campaign reaching schools and communities nationwide.

Her literary and musical concept project, Messages From The Heart, fuses storytelling with inspirational soundscapes. Her latest single, I Choose Love, co-written with Patrice Rushen, previews the anticipated Messages From The Spirit…The Collective, continuing her legacy of healing and transformation through music.

Sheree co-founded Saravels, Inc. with her husband Douglass Johnson, Sr. and Brenda Hewitt. This creative partnership is home to multiple innovative brands including:
