  • 1510:Rui Alves de Sousa is an exemplary human specimen

Rui Alves de Sousa-

Rui Alves de Sousa is an exemplary human specimen, who has amazing and fantastic magical powers. Since 2009 he maintains the blog “Company of the Almonds” (in Portuguese, “Companhia das Amêndoas”. He wrote about Cinema and Theater on the website “Espalha-Factos”, about movies and books on “Máquina de Escrever”, and now, and only about the seventh art, in Take Cinema Magazine. He also collaborated in several initiatives of other publications and blogs spread around the corners of the national internet. During School and University, Rui hosted the amateur talk-show “A Shot in the Dark” (“Um Lance No Escuro”), which had 60 episodes recorded over 3 years (2013-2016), and which were interviewed several directors, writers, musicians, actors, and even a clown. He collaborated in other university radio shows, such as “Minuto Zero”, “EF Rádio” and “Clarão”, which he also produced. Since January 2017 he presents the bi-weekly podcast “On The Edge of the Abyss” (or”À Beira do Abismo”, which is the Portuguese title for both novel and movie of “The Big Sleep”). It’s also an interview show, but with a small fictional component. There were some international guests on it, like actor Greg Sestero, film critic Jonathan Rosenbaum and author Antonio Altarriba. As an aspiring “person who does things in movies, television and radio,” Rui still has time for other things: he did amateur theater, he made the short “Fado Lived at the Sound of the Guitar”, presented at the Muvi Lisboa 2016 festival, as well as other audiovisual works. Rui worked on a bookshop, was a member of the organization of the Lisbon Book Fair in 2016, and is the A & R Assistant of Universal Music Portugal.
