About Dr. Bibi Pirayesh

Dr. Pirayesh has been an educator, mental health professional, and learning disability activist for over 15 years. She began her studies in Neuroscience and Education at the University of Pittsburgh before studying cognitive neuroscience and developmental psychology at Columbia University...

…Shortly after, she began working with children grades 1-12 with a wide range of learning disabilities including dyslexia, ADHD, and spectrum disorders. Disillusioned with the idea of forcing kids to conform to school systems instead of building schools that reflect their needs, she went back to complete her doctoral degree in social justice and education at Loyola Marymount University.

Today she works as a speaker and community advocate around learning rights and trains future therapists and teachers to change their fields from within, one decision at a time. Her book, Difference is Not Deficit will be out Fall 2025.
