  • 249: Twelve Minute Convos w/ Carmen Farmer

Carmen Farmer grew up in southeast Texas but never felt like it was home. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, with a BS in Radio-TV-Film, and worked in broadcasting and advertising for 25 years, before making the deliberate move to the nonprofit sphere.

Carmen Farmer moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1982 and was office manager/supervisor for a radio station there for over nine years. She was office manager, HR manager, and various other roles with the National Indian Child Welfare Association for 17 years prior to retiring in 2014.

After retiring, Carmen pursued a professional coach training path and received her Certified Professional Coach certificate in December 2015, followed by her Associate Certified Coach credential from the International Coach Federation in September 2016. She is now an enjoyment coach and helps baby boomers who are about to retire and want to plan for those soon-to-be-empty 40+ hours per week, or those who have retired but are not finding the satisfying experience they expected. She has a signature coaching program called “Retiring YOUR Way” to guide them through the process of finding fun and fulfillment in their new stage of life. She is also an excellent enjoyment role model and finds “semi-retirement” to be the most energizing and meaningful time of life so far.
