  • #12minconvos Podcast Journal of Engel Jones-Day 1

What's your new goal?

I have set out on anothter big, hairy, audacious goal to have 1001 #12minconvos in 12 weeks starting on January, 12th 2019, with AMAZING people from all over the world.

How many people have you interviewed in the past?

I've interviewed over 2000 people over the last 2 years and these #12minconvos are available on iTunes and Google Play. The podcast interviews done virtually via Skype are called #12minconvos. The face to face interviews that then follow are called #12minRVconvos. RV in our situation stands for Rental Vehicle (read more here). I recorded an additional 349 #12minRVconvos LIVE on our journey across the US and Canada .

How did Day 1 start?

Day 1 begun on a Saturday. I was awakened by the source of all important reminders in my life, my iPhone. I am not sure why this device is still called a phone. I would call it a lifesaver. The things I have been able to accomplish through this technology from my little Caribbean island that I call home is astounding.

Anyways, I crouched into a child's position, yoga pose style and prayed for a bit around 4am. Then I got up and did the things humans all do. This I leave open to your imagination.

Then I took out my mic, audio interface, headphones and set it up on the desk in our bedroom .

Where was Amanda?

Asleep, soon to awake and begin her day at 4:15 AM. Amanda is an early to bed, early to rise woman. She got up and went to the living room to begin her usual morning rituals.

What does your schedule look like?

The booking times for my podcast are scheduled in two segments per day. One segment begins in the morning to cater for those on the eastern part of the world. The  second segment begins at night for those on the western part of the world.

Who did you speak with on the 1st segment?

My first #12minconvo was scheduled at 4:30am with Trevor Ranges. He didn't connect on Skype and I had a 30 minute window to the next conversation so I did some tasks that were not completed the day before. Trevor is in Thailand and I hope that all is well with him. I will reach out to him to inquire.

At 5:00 AM I connected with Martine Ellis (Teacher, Podcaster, EdTech Coach, Consultant, Speaker). Despite having a bit of a challenge with her voice she showed up. She's lives in Guesney, United Kingdom. More to come on her episode # 2024. Sneek Peak -Her favourite song at 12 can be listened to here.

At 5:15am I connected with  Matt Young (Making Social Media Content Work | Animation & Motion Graphics). I loved Matt's earliest childhood memory. Matt lives in Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom.  More to come on his episode # 2025. Sneak Peek-His favourite song at 12 can be listened to here.

Who did you speak with on the 2nd segment?

My fourth #12minconvo was scheduled at 7:45 pm with Grant Garrison. He had to reschedule due to a family health challenge.

At 8:00 pm I connected with Jennifer Whitacre (Podcast Host ). She is from Ohio and the name of her podcast is Yes, and..." . I love her explanation of expanding a conversation with these simple words where you exchange but for and. More to come on her episode # 2027. Sneek Peak -Her favourite song at 12 can be listened to here.

At 8:15pm I connected with Sandi Lesueur.  Sandi is the President at Urban Juve, a subsidiary of The Yield Growth Corp. CSE:BOSS. It was great seeing the connection of who she was as a child and who she is today. More to come on her episode # 2027. Sneak Peek -Her favourite song at 12 can be listened to here.

At 8:30pm  I had Dr. Davia Coutcher scheduled but did not see her online. Hope all is well with her.

What else happens in your day?

Everyday we focus on setting goals to maintain balance. Our daily goals surround Personal and Business. Peronal goals consist of Mental, Spiritual, Career, Physical, Family, Personal and Financial. Business goals surround Sales, Admin, Leadership, Operations and Marketing.

What was your biggest takeaway?

The  importance of listening. Listen was the key theme of today.
