Janice Lawrence-Clarke is a fashion industry pioneer, serving as President and Creative Director of JLC PRoductions, a premier fashion presentation company. She is a sought-after host and MC, as well as the Founder of CAFE - Caribbean American Fashion Exchange™,...

…a groundbreaking program connecting Caribbean fashion designers to U.S. markets. Through CAFE™, she established the CAFE™ Scholarship Fund at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, supporting Caribbean students in pursuing fashion education.

A Multifaceted Career in Fashion & Cultural Advocacy

With a passion for economic empowerment through cultural development, Janice has led numerous initiatives promoting Caribbean fashion on a global stage. Notable contributions include:

  • Hosting the What is Caribbean Fashion? panel at FIT New York, sparking industry-wide discussions.
  • Organizing the Caribbeans in Fashion Meet & Greet during New York Fashion Week.
  • Producing The Mas in Fashion – A Fashion Parade, the longest fashion parade in the world, held on Brooklyn’s Eastern Parkway during the New York Caribbean Carnival.

Janice also serves as a narration actress, a social justice activation facilitator for high school students, and sits on the boards of Black Fashion World Foundation and Women of Concern Professionals & Strategic Conscious Networking.

Fashion Consultant & Industry Leader

A respected international fashion consultant, Janice recently contributed to the Strategic Plan for the Fashion Industry of Trinidad and Tobago, working with the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Services Industries under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Investment.

Her career began in 1975 as a runway and illustration model, later earning a degree in Fashion Buying & Merchandising from FIT New York. After relocating to Trinidad and Tobago in 1994, she played a pivotal role in developing the Caribbean fashion industry, revolutionizing fashion journalism as:

  • Style Page Developer at the Trinidad Guardian.
  • Social Reporter for The Independent.
  • Associate Editor of Ibis Magazine.

Academic Excellence & Professional Achievements

Returning to New York in 1999, Janice earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications Technology from New York University as a Dean’s List University Scholar. She then completed an MBA with distinction at American Intercontinental University, specializing in Project Management and Entertainment Management, and was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society.
