  • Tracey Arial: Building Community, Honoring Legacy & Living Unapologetically Canadian /EP 3102

About Tracey Ariel

I’m Tracey Arial, a 61-year-old creative entrepreneur living in Verdun, Quebec, with my husband. Together, we raised two amazing children while I built a career rooted in writing, genealogy, podcasting, and community building.

Since moving to Montreal in 1993 to become a writer, I’ve been fortunate to grow a thriving creative entrepreneurship business...

…Over the past decade, I’ve co-founded two non-profits, a non-profit cooperative, and a publishing company.

Most recently, my work with CAUS, a non-profit solidarity coop in Verdun, has been dedicated to helping residents access local, healthy food — a mission that has become a central part of my life. Even while deeply engaged in this work, I continue my passion as a genealogist, podcaster, and writer.

Over the past 28 years, I’ve written hundreds of profiles as an author, journalist, and family historian, always focusing on what’s unique about the individual or institution I’m profiling and emphasizing creativity and innovation.

All of these efforts give me an opportunity to explore how creativity can strengthen Canada. My podcast, Unapologetically Canadian, allows me to meet and feature Canadian creators who are shaping the country’s cultural and entrepreneurial landscape.

I also publish a newsletter, Arial View, where I share stories about creators, provide insights and opportunities, and reflect on the craft of writing and creative entrepreneurship.

Through my work, I’m passionate about building communities, telling authentic stories, and inspiring others to use creativity as a force for good.
