Born and raised in Nashville, TN, I have a degree in English/Journalism from Tennessee Technological University, where I learned how to program ginormous room-sized computers using a deck of cards and a rubber band, and how to edit newspaper and radio ads using a ruler, a razor blade, and scotch tape. While all of that may make me sound MacGyver cool, it hasn’t come in handy much since graduation.

Mary, my wife of 30 years, and I are the proud parents of three daughters and like every other middle-aged, overweight, native southerner, I spend most of my time at the ice rink playing hockey.
