As a child, Ryan was restrained hundreds of times in therapeutic schools before his passion for skiing led his parents to question the pathway laid by doctors and educators. Ryan’s memoir, Without Restraint (Falcon Press, 2023), and his social media platform, encourage outdoor activity, fitness, and healthy life choices to combat trauma and mental illness.
