  • Ola Muhammed: A Nigerian American’s Journey to Africa: Discovering Roots, Building a Dream, and Finding Home /Ep 3438

About Ola Muhammed

Ola Morin-Muhammed is a multidisciplinary creativepreneur, author, and mentor, with a deep passion for empowering women of color. She authored Get Your Foot Off My Neck, a women's empowerment book that launched at the start of the pandemic. The tragic parallels between her book's title and the heart-wrenching experience of George Floyd deeply moved her and led to her decision to Blaxit to Africa...

…A suggestion from a family friend about Kigali sparked her interest in Rwanda, and after researching, she made the life-changing decision to relocate.

In 2023, Olatokunbo settled in Kigali and acquired Living In Kigali (LIK), a digital platform that is the go-to resource for expats and newcomers seeking to visit, live, or invest in Rwanda. With a 25-year background in architecture and design, she’s currently working on the master plan for her real estate development called Wasimi Villas, which overlooks Lake Muhazi.

She balances life between the US and Rwanda with her husband of 21 years, a proud US Army veteran, and their three children—two of whom are in college—as they prepare for a future of retirement between Rwanda, Nigeria, and the US.
