About Linda Magoon
Linda Magoon is an author, environmentalist, and outdoor enthusiast who discovered the healing power of nature after leaving a toxic, emotionally abusive marriage. At age 55, she embarked on a life-changing journey to climb all 48 of New Hampshire’s 4,000-foot peaks. With the guidance of a therapist, life coach, and the highest summits in the White Mountains, Magoon reclaimed her independence, strength, and voice. Now, she writes to inspire others about the mental and physical health benefits of the great outdoors...
…Magoon holds a degree in Forestry from the University of Idaho and has dedicated over 20 years to environmental conservation in New Hampshire. She currently works in compliance and enforcement at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, protecting the state’s natural resources.
Her debut book, Live Free and Hike: Finding Grace, Healing, and Self-Discovery Atop New Hampshire’s 48 White Mountain Summits, chronicles her transformative hiking journey. Her essays on nature and personal growth have been featured in Mountain Passages, The Merrimack Valley Voice, and Smoky Quartz, New Hampshire’s state literary magazine.
A dedicated member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, the AMC’s 4000-Footer Club of the White Mountains, and the NH Writers’ Project, Magoon continues to advocate for nature’s power to heal, inspire, and transform lives.
