Where did SALTOPIA get started? SALTOPIA Infused Sea Salts is my personal creation. I’ve always LOVED flavor and sea salt brings out a food’s natural flavor. Salt officially is added to recipes to open the mouth’s palate and allow the flavor of the food to pull through.
SALTOPIA currently has over 60 different flavors, which all have their own proprietary recipe. We also sell raw, unrefined salts without flavoring from our Naturally Harvested Line. I am the “mad scientist” behind creating the flavors that combine a unique fusion of each separate salt crystal and flavor molecule. The reason I started calling myself the “mad scientist” is because of the science that goes into creating an infused sea salt. The molecular structure of sea salt is entirely different according to where it’s derived from – just like the DNA of a human being. Therefore, the way that a salt crystal actually infuses with flavor is very unique. Finding the perfect match to unlock the two separate molecules (salt & flavor) to create the perfect blend is our company’s secret! Nowadays, I like the title “Saltologist” instead of “Mad Scientist.” I don’t think that “mad science” would sell salt very well.
