Fabiana Elisa Martínez: Award-Winning Author and Linguist

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fabiana Elisa Martínez is a distinguished linguist, language teacher, and writer. She earned her degree in Linguistics and World Literature from UCA University in Buenos Aires and speaks five languages: Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, and Italian...

…For over 20 years, Fabiana has lived and worked in Dallas, Texas, where she continues to inspire through her writing and teaching.

Published Works and Achievements

Fabiana is the author of several acclaimed books:

  • 12 Random Words: Her award-winning short story collection, published in three bilingual versions, has garnered 10 awards. Two stories were selected for the Dallas Museum of Art’s Arts & Letters Live series in 2017. The book was a finalist in the Eyelands Book Awards 2022 and won the First Prize.
  • Conquered by Fog: This short story collection became a finalist in the 2023 Global Book Awards, the 2023 Eyelands Book Awards, and the Independent Author Network Award. It also received recognition in the Royal DragonFly Book Awards just six months after publication.
  • Spanish 360 with Fabiana: A comprehensive grammar book series that reflects her passion for language teaching.

Her short story “Characters” won Second Place in the Fiction for Adults Category at the 2023 Annual Abilene Writers Guild Contest. Fabiana’s works have been published in numerous international literary journals and anthologies, including:

  • Rigorous Magazine, Ponder Review, The Good Life Review (UK), Rhodora Magazine (India), Libretto Magazine (Nigeria), Freshwater Literary Journal, Mediterranean Poetry, Egophobia Journal (Romania), and many others.

Fabiana’s short story “Conquered by Fog” was nominated for the 2022 Pushcart Prize by Freshwater Literary Journal. Her manuscript, Word Flakes, was a finalist in the Harbor Edition’s Chapbook Open Reading Period in 2021.

Current Projects

Fabiana is working on her first novel while continuing to craft impactful short stories.
