  • Debra Cohen: From Rock ‘n’ Roll to Soul: A Journey of Music, Addiction, and Spiritual Awakening /Ep3838

About Debra Cohen

Debra Cohen (formerly Debra Clark) began her music journey at the age of 22, enrolling in a music college in Brookline, Massachusetts, where she studied rock chord progressions. She soon left college to pursue a career in music, joining a New Wave band in Boston during the vibrant 1980s music scene. A standout moment in her early career was opening for Joan Jett—a highlight featured in her album "Eighties" by Debra Cohen...

…Debra’s musical aspirations were interrupted by personal struggles with drug addiction, which ultimately led her on a transformative spiritual journey—much like the spiritual awakening of The Beatles. After exploring various religions, her life changed dramatically following a trip to Israel in 1999, where she became a believer in the God of Israel. This spiritual shift inspired her to begin writing faith-based music, drawing from psalms, praise, and worship, now under her married name, Debra Cohen.

In addition to music, Debra is also an entrepreneur and author. She offers custom-designed merchandise through her brand DCM MERCH on Amazon, catering to fans of her music and message. Her passion for truth and history led her to publish a nonfiction book titled “Jewish Palestine / Arab Palestine: A History of Conflict”, which aims to provide readers with an accurate, historical understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
