…Hollywood Career & Acting Highlights

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Charlene launched her career in Hollywood, working across film, theatre, modeling, and dance. She appeared in notable films such as Poetic Justice, So I Married An Axe Murderer, and Sister Act 2.

Charlene is also a gifted poet and spoken word artist. In 2009, she won the Third Annual Seoul Poetry Slam in South Korea. She wrote and starred in her own one-woman theatrical production, What’s Love Got To Do With It?, commissioned by HBO.

Her spoken word and dance performances earned critical acclaim, especially as the opening act for the L.A. revival of Amiri Baraka’s award-winning play, Dutchman, which won five Los Angeles Theatre Awards. Leading publications praised her work:

  • Back Stage West: “She was a stirring start for the show.”
  • Los Angeles Times: Jones delivered “laid back” ease performing her pieces.
  • Hollywood Reporter: “Charlene Jones gave a stellar performance.”

Training & Mentorship

Famed acting coach Larry Moss noticed Charlene’s talent during Dutchman and invited her to join his prestigious acting class. She spent a year mastering acting techniques and scene study under his guidance.

Radio Hosting & Media Presence

Charlene has an extensive background in radio hosting, reaching global audiences:

  • Beijing, China (2011-2013): Hosted “Media Scan,” a live world news show on award-winning China Drive EZ FM.
  • Gwangju, South Korea (2009-2011): Hosted “Hello Korea” on GFN 98.7 FM, spotlighting K-Pop and Korean arts and entertainment.
  • United States: Co-hosted the syndicated “The Foxx Hole Radio Show” with Jamie Foxx and Cheryl Underwood, airing nationwide.

Early Career & Commercial Work

Upon graduation, Charlene secured a role at legendary KKBT 92.3 The Beat in Los Angeles as Programming Coordinator and on-air talent. She also featured in local and national commercials and public service announcements.

Personal Philosophy & Mission

Charlene views acting and radio as magical vehicles for storytelling and meaningful conversation. She says, “Children are my passion… teaching is my purpose.” Despite her accomplishments, Charlene stays grounded, focusing on what truly matters.
