Bonnie’s Story: A Journey Through Absence and Presence
Bonnie’s personal journey, captured in her upcoming memoir, “Bone, Breath, and Fire: A Daughter’s Search for Her Missing Father,” explores themes of grief, resilience, and mindfulness. The loss of her MIA father shaped her early years, leading from a childhood of hidden sorrows to a tumultuous adolescence, a challenging first marriage, and an eventual transformation into a mindfulness teacher.
Her lifelong connection to breath has been a guiding force from childhood fears of gasping for air to her work as a respiratory therapist, where she sat beside dying patients. This path led her to meditation practice and, ultimately, to leading hundreds of people in facing mortality through small groups inspired by “A Year to Live.”
